Denver Language School is a DPS charter school. DLS participates in the School Choice process managed by DPS. By completing an application, your child is entered into the lottery for the upcoming school year. The application is not a guarantee of admission and does not commit your child to attending DLS.
Kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before October 1, 2019, in order to qualify for the 2019-20 school year. The state of Colorado now provides full tuition for Kindergarten students. More information is provided on the DPS website.
If you are new to the DPS district (meaning your child has never attended or applied to any DPS school before), please complete the Pre-Enrollment forms and return them to any DPS school for processing. It is highly recommended that you return these forms to your number one school of choice:
If Denver Language School is your number one choice, you may drop the paperwork off at either campus locations.
DLS Language Proficiency Assessments
Students applying for grades 2 through 8 must complete a language proficiency assessment in order to determine the language proficiency levels for each student before DLS can accept any applicants for grades 2 through 8.
Mid-year applicants for any grade level will also be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Students applying for grades 2-4, please click here to request a language assessment appointment.
Students applying for grades 5-8, please click here to schedule a language assessment appointment.
Round 1 of School Choice applications for the 2019-20 school year opened January 15, 2019 and closed February 20, 2019 at 4:00 pm. The lottery was conducted by the DPS Office of Choice and Enrollment Services during March 2019. DPS sent lottery results to families during April 2019. All waiting lists* were generated from the lottery based off the applications not selected for any open seats from the first round. For DLS, all students applying for grades 1-8 are automatically placed on waiting lists during Round 1, regardless open seats. When enrollment offers are made, families will be contacted by the DLS Enrollment Team.
Round 2 for the 2019-20 school year will open April 3, 2019 and will close August 30, 2019.
*Waiting lists do not carry over from year to year. Families must reapply each year if they are not selected from the current lottery or called from the current wait list during the school year they applied for.
