As the only K-8 Chinese/Spanish total immersion school in the Denver Public School district, we offer open enrollment for two full-day kindergarten classes in each language (Mandarin and Spanish) for the 2017-18 school year. Kindergarten students must be 5 by Oct. 1, 2017. Full day kindergarten does have a tuition rate and is income/district based.
Limited number of spaces are likely in grades 1 through 8. There are language proficiency requirements entering grades 2 through 8. Students applying for grades 2 through 8 are required to be assessed in order to determine their language proficiency for the grade level they are applying to.
Charter schools, like Denver Language School, are tuition-free (with the exception of Kindergarten) public schools of choice. DLS participates in the SchoolChoice process through DPS. By completing an application, you are entering your child into the lottery for the upcoming school year. This is not a guarantee of admission nor does it commit your child to attend DLS.
Round One of SchoolChoice enrollment for the 2017-18 school year is now closed as of January 31, 2017 at 4:00 pm. The lottery was conducted by DPS Office of Choice and Enrollment Services during February of 2017 and results were sent to families during March of 2017. Wait lists* were compiled from the applications that were not selected from the first round.
Round 2 for the 2017-18 school year is now open as of March 20, 2017 and will close August 31, 2017. Round Two is strictly first come, first served: all applications are time stamped. If DLS is your #1 choice for Round Two, all applications must be submitted in person at either DLS campus:
DLS West (grades K-2): 200 S University Blvd, Denver CO 80209
DLS East (grades 3-8): 451 Newport St, Denver CO 80220
*Wait lists do not carry over from year to year. Families must reapply if they were not selected from the lottery or called from the wait list during the school year they applied for.
