Denver Language School is a DPS charter school. DLS participates in the School Choice process managed by DPS. By completing an application, your child is entered into the lottery for the upcoming school year. The application is not a guarantee of admission and does not commit your child to attending DLS.
Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by October 1, 2019, in order to qualify and apply for the 2019-20 school year. Full-day kindergarten's tuition rate is income-based and follows the DPS income-based scale. (Tuition only applies to kindergarten, grades 1-8 are tuition free.) More information is provided on the DPS website.
Students applying for grades 2 through 8 need to be assessed in order to determine grade level language proficiency. Please Click Here to request a language assessment appointment.
Round 1 of School Choice applications for the 2019-20 school year will open January 15, 2019 and close February 15, 2019 at 4:00 pm. The lottery is conducted by the DPS Office of Choice and Enrollment Services during March 2019. DPS will send the lottery results to families during April 2019. All wait lists* will be generated from the lottery based off the applications not selected for any open seats from the first round. For DLS, all students applying for grades 1-8 are automatically wait listed during Round 1, regardless of how many seats are open, and families will be contacted promptly.
Round 2 for the 2019-20 school year will open April 3, 2019 and will close August 30, 2019.
*Wait lists do not carry over from year to year. Families must reapply each year if they are not selected from the current lottery or called from the current wait list during the school year they applied for.
