PikMyKid Dismissal App
DLS uses the PikMyKid dismissal app to make sure all students get to where they need to be at the end of every day. Click here to download the PikMyKid app for iPhone, and click here to download it for Android! All parents and caregivers must use PikMyKid as part of our safe arrival and dismissal, even if you are walking in the building to pick up students.

The Purple Panther and Green Gecko buses are FULL; students applying for these buses will be put on a waitlist and notified if/when space opens up.
DLS provides comprehensive bus transportation to and from the Boys and Girls Club in North Park Hill, as well as the Stapleton area. The Green Gecko Bus and the Purple Panther Bus take K-2 students from DLS East (Whiteman) to DLS West (Citypoint Church/Calvary Temple) in the morning and back in the afternoon. Our Silver Squirrel morning bus operates on a reverse route, taking K-2 students from DLS West to DLS East in the morning.
If you need to make changes to your current transportation plan, you can do it on the PikMyKid app, or if you need help, email email@example.com. DLS cannot guarantee availability of seats on any particular bus.
DLS charges a monthly bus fee to ensure those who commit to using the bus will continue to do so throughout the school year. The fee for 2016-17 is $120 per year for the first student in a family and $30 per year for each additional student.
At DLS, we follow the DL3 for positive behavior. We are respectful, responsible and ready to learn. A very important part of being “Ready to Learn” is to be on time. We believe that students should begin their day with a positive start, so we have implemented a "soft start" program. Students may arrive at either campus beginning at 7:30 and will be directed to the cafeteria or to the bus, where they will be supervised. DPS Free Breakfast service begins at 7:30am at both DLS East and DLS West.
Students at DLS East will eat their breakfast in the cafeteria. Students may enter their classrooms at 7:45 (7:40 for 6th-8th grades) to begin reading and preparing for the school day. At DLS West, students will be picked up by their teachers in the gym/ cafeteria and take their breakfast their soft start time. Students being dropped off at DLS West and not planning to eat breakfast will also report to the cafeteria and will join their class before being walked to classrooms.
DLS East students who do not plan to eat breakfast may go directly to their classrooms beginning at 7:45am (7:40 for 6th-8th grades). Staff will monitor hallways. Students will have the opportunity to calmly unpack and will enter the classroom where they will read silently. This “Soft Start” program allows students up to an extra hour and a half of reading per week! Students may bring a book of their choice or will be provided with a book or activity in the classroom at the teacher’s discretion.
Students arriving after 8:00am at DLS East (7:55 for 6th-8th Grade Students) and 8:15am at DLS West will be marked tardy.
Carpool Traffic Flow
DLS East Campus:
We have a staff member at the North end of our loop directing traffic. Please note that cars may enter our flow of traffic from either 4th Avenue or 5th Avenue. Cars should alternate as they round the corner at the North End of the school. This will prevent our car line from backing up all the way to Monaco. Feel free to choose to enter the neighborhood from the direction that is best for you. Please see the map and contact with office with any questions you may have.
Please note: We will no longer be using room 207 for walk up dismissal as it has been converted into offices. All students will now be dismissed through the main entrance doors on Newport Street.
DLS West Campus
Staff members are stationed at major intersection points along the carpool line to direct traffic. Please note that traffic may enter the parking lot from Alameda or Cedar Lane. Cars should alternate entering the DLS car lined marked in blue. Cars should exit drop off and pick up only, and may only make a right turn when exiting the parking lot on Alameda during Arrival and Dismissal. No DLS parking is allowed in the Bus Loop parking lot adjacent to University Blvd.
Overflow parking is available for first week of school and special events in the Orange "Hope Online School" Parking area for DLS visitors. DLS parents, staff or visitors should never park in the Red areas, including the CEC triangle parking area. In addition, no parking on Cedar Lane during school hours. Students and parents should use the crosswalk and sidewalks during arrival and dismissal.

Is your child on a waitlist for the bus? Do you live in a part of town that’s a bit further from campus? The DLS Carpool Map may just be the help you’ve been waiting for! Carpooling can save you time and money, it helps the environment, it decreases the carline at school, and it builds relationships with other DLS parents and students.
