My name is Robin Bresnahan, and this is my fifth year teaching visual arts at DLS. It has been a true honor to guide your students in the art room over the course of the past four years, and I am very much looking forward to the upcoming school year. There is a true feeling of optimism and collaboration amongst the DLS staff as the 2014 – 2015 academic year unfolds.
I received my BA in Art Education at Colorado State University in 2003 and have ten years of experience teaching visual arts at both the elementary and high school levels. I was fortunate enough to spend a year teaching in Barcelona, Spain, and two years teaching IB Visual Arts in China’s Sichuan province. I speak both Spanish and Mandarin and like to weave important target language elements into my instruction in the art room. I am passionate about creating a learning environment that is engaging, relevant, and welcoming.
I have a wonderful husband, sixteen month old daughter, and a small dog whom we adopted while living in China. When I’m not at DLS I like to spend time working on art commissions, teaching and practicing yoga, hiking, running, biking, reading, writing, enjoying the outdoors, and spending quality time with my family.
This year all students, K-6 will be have art, P.E., music, and K-4 will also have technology. Woohoo! Classes will be on a weekly basis, rotating every fourth week. As the year progresses, I will be keeping parents informed via a website so keep your eyes and ears out for art room updates! I love hearing your feedback, concerns, questions and comments—do not hesitate to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
